Truly Inspiring!

My 17-year-old nephew, Lucas, is currently a junior at Braden River High School in Bradenton, Florida. He actively participates in jiu-jitsu and weightlifting as part of his school activities.

At the age of two, Lucas was diagnosed with Familial Exudative Vitreoretinopathy (FEVR), a rare inherited eye disorder. This progressive condition occurs when the peripheral blood vessels in the retina fail to develop properly, leading to issues like ischemia, leakage, and the risk of retinal detachment. FEVR is notable for its genetic diversity and variability in clinical presentation and severity. Treatment options for this condition include laser therapy, surgical interventions, or anti-VEGF injections.
