Tribute to Joseph Nesser- The Golfer 🏌️

(3 of 3)

In 2004, as my father Joseph faced the end of his battle with cancer, I spent his final four hours with him before he slipped into a coma. During that time, he shared many stories, but one of the most memorable was his deep love for golf. At 17, he caddied at the Genesee Valley Golf Club in Rochester, New York, to help his family cover the electrical bills. His father was a mason, a robust figure, while his mother struggled with rheumatoid arthritis, leaving her hands severely crippled and unable to work.

I recall how my father would always tackle my mother’s to-do list before heading out to play golf with friends or family. He exuded calmness both on and off the course. As a resilient teenager, he often gathered free wood from the Sibley building in downtown Rochester, bringing it home to fuel their wood furnace. This was a regular routine for him, all while caddying for various members at the club.

A humble man, he let his actions speak volumes. He was devoted to his family and his close circle of friends, and in his final moments, he shared his faith with me—a gift that will endure for eternity! John 3:16
