I recently participated in a training for school counselors, where a significant focus was placed on time management. The late Insoo Kim Berg and Steve de Shazer, both pioneers of solution-focused brief therapy and social work professionals, have influenced my approach as a school counselor for the past decade.
Interestingly, I realized that I had been applying their principles unknowingly during my 20 years as a classroom teacher in some of the most challenging schools across America. How do you navigate your time in a busy schedule? Are your time management choices intentional, or do they often feel random?
✅ Avoid ‘energy vampires’ who consume your time with their self-centered conversations or complaints.
✅ Establish systems or routines to efficiently handle paperwork and time-consuming tasks.
✅ Incorporate workouts 🏋️♀️ either at the start or end of your workday to foster a healthier mindset.
In my book, “Bloom Where You Are,” available on Amazon, we share a variety of routines and strategies designed to enhance your time management skills.
