MCSD Year 19

I spent my first five years of my career in the banking industry at Chase Manhattan Bank, which definitely gives away my age from the early '90s! 😂 I was part of a management program designed to prepare me for running my own branch someday. At 27, I had a moment of clarity and realized that banking just wasn’t for me. I walked into my manager's office—she was from Norway—and told her I wanted to explore a new career path. My decision shocked her and the rest of the team.

Fast forward a bit: I took a trip to Egypt and Israel to reflect on my next steps. During that journey, I felt a clear calling towards education. Now, 35 years later, I’m starting my 19th year with the Manatee County School District in Bradenton, Florida. Am I excited for this year? Absolutely! With a new principal and assistant principal, many changes are on the horizon. And I believe change can be positive, especially when it benefits our students, parents, and community.

For anyone contemplating a career shift, take the time to explore all your options. Consult your inner circle for advice, and if you're Christian, pray about it—God will guide you in the right direction!

I hope this message brings some hope to those who might be feeling stuck in a job they dislike. Remember, there’s always hope if you wake up each day feeling disconnected  or miserable in your job.
