This past week, I took a trip down memory lane while listening to our seventh and eighth-grade chorus perform Christmas songs. Reflecting on over 50 years of memories, I was transported back to the joy of unwrapping gifts, playing with cousins at Christmas Eve gatherings, and savoring delicious meals like Italian sausage paired with a variety of red and white sauces over pasta or fish dishes, along with Arabic delights such as tabouli, hummus, and grape leaves. I could vividly picture my aunts and uncles enjoying card games, reminiscing about Christmases gone by, and simply cherishing each other’s company.
While I relished these nostalgic moments and appreciated the talent of the young singers, I couldn't help but feel a sense of empathy for the countless families I've encountered over the past 31 years as a classroom teacher, Dean, school counselor, and life coach—families who may not have such cherished memories and come from less fortunate circumstances.
I have been fortunate to have family, friends, and resources that enable me to give back to those who may not have the same opportunities in this classroom of life. Let’s make each day meaningful with our loved ones this holiday season.
I’d love to hear about any Christmas memories that stand out for you.
Warm wishes,
Coach N.

Some of my favorite Christmas memories revolve around our days at LBBC. We had a lot of fun in those days.
