Over the past week, my activities were largely focused on Hurricane Helene. On Tuesday, I had an enjoyable day learning and engaging with the Jon Gordon team, where I became certified as a trainer. Iβm excited about the opportunity to connect with schools and districts across the country.
On Wednesday and Thursday, I assisted neighbors and welcomed individuals who needed shelter during the storm. By Thursday afternoon, my condo association decided to shut down the elevator at 1 PM. I took Bruno, my pit bull, out around 1:45 PM for a bathroom break. I tried to take him out again around 6 PM when the rain let up, but the stairs were drenched. I had to carry my 80-pound dog up and down the stairs! I found myself wondering whether to risk the slippery stairs or hope he could hold it for 16 hours until the elevator was back in service. Thankfully, after saying a few prayers, Bruno managed to hold it for over 16 hours! ππ
How about you? Have you ever had to navigate a hurricane while helping neighbors who needed a place to stay? There are always people in need, and we should be ready to give back in our classrooms of life. Donβt you agree?
